Following the Canterbury Earthquake an opportunity arose for Steph Townsend and her husband to purchase a strong business set to go through substantial growth, and that it did. From a staff of 3 it grew to 70, then 200. Steph was faced with finding highly competent and skilled staff in a very competitive market and found herself taking a crash course in all things business and people management.
Requiring fairly instant, reliable, practical, affordable and accessible advice from people who genuinely understood business was not easy to come by. Steph found that while many external consultants were skilled in HR and recruitment, few really understood business. As a result of this lack of insight the solutions offered were often not in line with business goals and budgets.
It was at this point Steph realised that if she was struggling with this challenge, others must be too. And so Catch Consulting began to evolve.
